Cleopatra Jones and the Casino of Gold - Tamara Dobson (1975) - The Peninsula Hotel, Kowloon
Unlike Susan Hayward's experience of the Peninsula Hotel lobby for the film Soldier of Fortune back in 1955 (it was a US studio set), Tamara Dobson actually gets to walk through the real thing in Cleopatra Jones 2.
I should explain my Hayward reference. During the making of Soldier of Fortune, Susan Hayward was embroiled in a custody battle with her ex-husband and couldn't leave the US for fear that she would lose custody of her children. All of the Haywards scenes that featured her in close up were filmed back in the US on recreated sets and the uncofirmed rumour is that Jennifer Jones stepped in as Hayward's double for HK-shot scenes. However, on top of that, back in 1955 sound technology was not at a point whereby decent dialogue could be recorded on location and the tendency was - for ALL scenes involving any sort of dialogue between characters - to recreate studio sets for specific dialogue scenes to match the supposed location in HK. By the time Cleopatra Jones was filmed the technology had moved on enough to allow for on-site dialogue recording.
