The Vengeance of Fu Manchu - Christopher Lee (1967) - Shing Mun Reservoir, Tsuen Wan

It's a very quick scene but there is also some action around Shing Mun Reservoir as the rescue party ride their horses through the forest towards Fu Manchu's hidden temple. In the top picture the reservoir dam wall is actually hidden between the slopes above the actors' heads.

I hope to feature Shing Mun Reservoir more extensively when I take a look (sometime soon) at King Hu's classic The Valiant Ones because some key scenes in that film were shot there.

Hi Phil,

The foot path around the Upper Shing Mun Reservoir are also covered by the Backpack version of Street View. You might find something there.

Thanks Thomas. I wish they would offer me this backpack version - there's a ton of places I would love to see on Streetview.

Hi Phil,

Don't know if it is still available to Hong Kong. But you may always ask. (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeMgMA6RnUjfNt4f16Qnk5i0M7wZ2HxXEpljoqDjvNXPSnN1Q/viewform)

The backpack weighs around 42 Lb. That would usually mean you would need at least one other person with you to carry water and food supplies for you.

Good luck.

Hi Phil,

I think Google Trekker is very much active in Hong Kong. It's just that we have not bumped into it. I checked some of the street view of it and they are as update as 2015. Thus somebody (likely Universities or other organization) had been using it since it was available. Someone even have part of the inside of the Ocean Park mapped. I suspect that guy is a Ocean Park Staff as he has access to some of the places still under construction then. Those were dated 2011 though.
