Da Mata's old school also appears in the film. According to the narration, he attended this but is old classroom is now full of junk (see second image). I believe these days it operates as a girls' school but have no idea if it always operated as one, so I can't vouch for the realism in the narrative. The entrance to the school is on Rua de Santa Clara, not far from where this was filmed.
