The Celestial channel on Youtube keeps pumping out some great movies. Next up is Police Force, a sort of modern day kung fu film from Chang Cheh centering around a Police Inspector Wong (Wang Chung, the actor, not the 80s pop group) who joins the police when his best friend, played by Fu Sheng, is brutally murdered by some thugs. This is actually a great film with lots of new exterior locations to explore. There's even a very young Fung Hak-on as Wong's right hand man. The film starts with some footage of new recruits marching around the parade ground at the Police Training School in Wong Chuk Hang. More as a stage setting than anything else because I'm not sure any of the main characters are supposed to be in the Police at this point. There is also some footage later in the film as Wong goes through his training as a new recruit.
I did send a couple of screenshots to a former Marine Policeman (Les Bird - please check out his latest book from Blacksmith Books) and he reminisced about marching around the very same parade ground during his training, not too long after this film was made.
