Legacy of Rage - Brandon Lee (1986) - Ocean Palace Restaurant Night Club, Tsim Sha Tsui
The large circular restaurant where Michael goes to"gong sau" (that's Triad speak for negotiations between gangs) with other gangsters was filmed at the now closed Ocean Palace Restaurant Night Club (海洋皇宮大酒樓). It was located in the Ocean Centre section of Harbour City on Canton Road which explains the curved layout of the venue. I believe it closed circa 2005.

Skyscraper - Dwayne Johnson (2018) - View from Tsim Sha Tsui...or not
A final post from Skyscraper I think before I move on to the next movie. This one is a bit of a mish-mash though with what appears to be a non-HK shot of a helicopter coming into land, combined with a real shot of Harbour City in the back left, plus the fake CGI building middle background and then with another real shot of Hong Kong Island as the far background.
However, although the two bits of Hong Kong that can be seen appear to be real, there is no way you can see that bit of HK Island from this part of TST looking in that direction. So I guess the film makers have just used two different shots and combined them to form the background environment with the CGI skyscraper slapped between them to hide the join :)

Yellowthread Street (TV Series) - Bruce Payne (1990) - Haiphong Road, Kowloon
Does anyone remember Catch 22? Well for those of you who do here is a brief reminder courtesy of Rummy's Cut as the cops drive from Canton Road down into Haiphong Road and park next to the Silvercord Centre.
The building in the background, in case the partially obscured name wasn't a big enough clue, is the Harbour City development which consists of numerous blocks built over the past 40 years - the oldest probably being the Grand Ocean Theatre which went up in 1969. The building we can see with the curved windows is actually the (currently Marco Polo) Gateway Hotel, built in 1981.

The Silvercord has gone a bit upmarket since this series was filmed and, as with the rest of the territory, the mall is pretty much a luxury goods market aimed at the Mainland walking money machines...ooops, I mean "tourists".
