Beyond Hypothermia - Jacklyn Wu Chien-lien (1996) - Mabuhay Restaurant, Minden Avenue

Another eating establishment appears in this movie as Shu (we now know her name) is lured to Mabuhay Restaurant in TST under false pretences. She believes she is undertaking another contract, but it turns out it was a trap placed by the South Korean killer.

This restaurant went out of business around the time I moved to Hong Kong and was located at 11 Minden Avenue. The space is currently filled by a Japanese restaurant.

Beyond Hypothermia - Jacklyn Wu Chien-lien (1996) - Minden Avenue, Tsim Sha Tsui

On one of her visits to the noodle stall, Long surprises her by taking her to the top of his building where he has installed a swing set on the roof terrace. The building is supposed to be located next to the noodle stall but when we get to the roof it's quite obvious we have crossed the harbour and are adjacent to the Blackhead Point Signal tower (centre left, first image). Where the "Harbour Pinnacle" building now stands on Minden Avenue was a row of low-rise tenement buildings, and it was on the roof of one of these that this scene was filmed. The buildings have long gone but you can get a glimpse via this old post. In the top image on that link, if you look immediately below the signal tower you will see the row of buildings in question.

Les Nuits Rouges du Bourreau de Jade - Carrie Ng (2010) - Why Club, Minden Avenue

The venue for the launch of Carrie's perfume venture (Red Nights) is a, now defunct, club in Tsim Sha Tsui called the "Why Club". It was located in the Harbour Pinnacle Building at #8 Minden Avenue. I'm not sure when it closed but it was definitely still open in 2014 when there was a gang fight outside.

Cleopatra Jones and the Casino of Gold - Tamara Dobson (1975) - Blenheim Avenue, Tsim Sha Tsui

Returning to Cleopatra Jones for this post to update one of the locations I was having trouble identifying. This one again found by Thomas who had located the dry cleaners as still being around the same area (although he has since told me it looks to have now gone...).

It's actually the end of the motorcycle chase that started in the hotel on the opposite side of the road.

This is actually the corner where Blenheim Ave joins Minden Avenue. Despite the fact that Centamap has this block as being 62 years old, the Govt Rating and Value dept notes that the building here on the corner, called Rich Towers, was in fact built in 1986. But actually, looking at the next building along, this does seem to be the original with the same concrete steps built around the windows, so I guess it was just the end corner section that has been replaced. Currently the corner has a restaurant called Brick Lane. Here is the Streetview, the angle isn't so great.
