Gen Y Cops - Edison Chen (2000) - Aberdeen Harbour

Actually, before I forget, we will stay in Aberdeen for the sequence where the FBI catch up with Edison and all hell breaks loose. Props to Paul Rudd in this scene because the man goes and takes a full on head first dive into Aberdeen Harbour waters for this scene and seems to have survived. I know the water has cleared up a lot since the boat people were largely moved onto land, but still...

In the background of the top image you can see what was the Wild West Minetrain rollercoaster that was in Ocean Park until just a few years ago. I believe it was decommissioned in September 2021 as the theme park was in the process of modernising. However, it's so long since I went there I have no idea what it has been replaced by.

Paul Rudd's legs 😁

All About Ah Long - Chow Yun Fat (1989) - Ocean Park, Hong Kong

Sylvia takes her new-found son there for a day out and then proceeds to puke after her ride on the rollercoaster. I haven't been here for nearly ten years and lots has changed and my understanding is that both of these rides have since closed down.

Felicity - Glory Annen (1978) - Ocean Park, Wong Chuk Hang

We get to go for a ride on Ocean Park's cable car. It had only been open for a year when this was filmed. I haven't been for years (I went once when the new aquarium opened but had such a hard time trying to see through its tiny viewing windows past the heads of about a hundred jostling Mainlanders that I've never been back) so can't comment how much it has changed but I reckon the cable car hasn't changed at all.

Spider-Man: The Dragon's Challenge - Nicholas Hammond (1979) - Ocean Park, Nam Long Shan

An interesting view of the newly opened (in 1977) Ocean Park - or at least the headland section on the other side of Brick Hill (Nam Long Shan). I tend to give OP a wide berth these days - if I want to be pushed and shoved around by hordes of people, then I can do it for free in Mongkok and save on the travel time.

Anyway, it looks as though the 1978 version of Ocean Park hadn't had any fun rides installed just yet, but it is possible to make out the upper cable car station (centre left). The circular building on the far left used to house the famous former Atoll Reef aquarium with its big wide viewing windows. These days the main aquarium has been moved down to a funky-looking-but-less-practical-with-tiny-viewing-portals tank on the lower section.

Yellowthread Street (TV Series) - Bruce Payne (1990) - Ocean Park, Aberdeen

Until 2001, the Aberdeen-side of Ocean Park (at the bottom of the long escalators) was dedicated to "ancient China". It was part of the park called "Middle Kingdom" (the direct translation of the Chinese term for "China") and consisted of some Imperial looking Chinese buildings around a central square. On my first trip to HK I did actually go here and stayed to watch the so-called kung fu demonstration - basically a bunch of guys doing the standard circus acts of bending rebar in their throats, throwing chopsticks into a target board and walking barefoot across supposedly razor sharp knives.

Anyway, in the next few grabs you can see the buildings I was referring to in the background. The top one shows what looks like a temple at the top left but it was just a cheap imitation that, seemingly, wasn't popular with the burgeoning Mainland masses. You can also see the aforementioned escalators snaking down the mountain.
