More opening sequence shows this view of the main junction between Des Voeux Road Central, Pedder Street, Chater Road and Connaught Place. The corner of Worldwide House can be seen on the right and Des Voeux Road continues into the distance to the right of frame.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - Adam Baldwin (2000) - Junction of Pedder Street and Des Voeux Road Central

Another one of the travelogue-style transitional shots shows some trams making their way down the tracks along Hong Kong Island. This location is the section of Des Voeux Road Central where it intersects with Pedder Street. In the distant background can be seen the pedestrian walkway that crosses the road between Central Market and the Hang Seng HQ, and the stepped/tiered building further on is the China Insurance Group Building (at 141 DVRC). Although it looks like it may have been under scaffolding at the time for a facelift?

Spitfire - Lance Henriksen (1995) - Pedder Street, Central

After catching a taxi at the "airport", the cab is filmed driving around various streets in Hong Kong including the area below. This footbridge connected Worldwide House, in the background, with what was Swire House on the corner of Chater Road/Pedder Street. Actually, the footbridge lasted longer than the building because the footbridge remains whereas Swire House was demolished in the late 90s and replaced by the current Chater House. Despite the poor picture quality, you can just make out the words "Swire House" on the right hand side of the top image below.

Love Circles - Michelle Siu (1985) - Pedder Street, Central

After being followed down from Hollywood Road, Koko crosses the road at Pedder Street between Wheelock House (where Citibank still is) and The Landmark Building.
 

Tokyo Gang vs Hong Kong Gang - Ken Takakura (1964) - Des Voeux Road Central

One of the rendezvous points, where Kitahara has planned to meet Chang, is at the junction of Chater Road, Pedder Street and Des Voeux Road Central (DVRC). We can see the DVRC entrance of the General post Office in the background of several shots. I hadn't realised there was more than one entrance to the old GPO so that was a nice surprise. Other buildings include the former Jardine House on the south west corner of Pedder Street and DVRC.

Das Mädchen von Hongkong - Joachim Fuchsberger (1973) - General Post Office, Central

One of the true architectural gems of Central that really should've been kept, especially when you consider the ugly building that replaced it is. The General Post Office was demolished in 1977 and the only remaining pieces of it appear to be these four front entrance columns that were moved over to Kadoorie Farm in Lam Tsuen, Tai Po District.

Largo Winch - Tomer Sisley (2008) - Chater Road, Central

Central features a fair amount in this film, this is one of the first scenes as we see one of the execs cars as it makes its way to the Winch building. This is Chater Road at the junction where it joins with Pedder Street. We then follow the car down Chater Road to the old Supreme Court Building (formerly LegCo and now the home of the Court of Final Appeal as of 2015).

The Private Eyes - Hui Brothers (1976) - Pedder Street, Central

Classic Cantonese comedy from the mid-70's with a catchy theme tune sung by Sam Hui. The opening titles of the film have various snap shots of buildings until stopping on this junction that is actually where Pedder Street crosses Chater Road and Des Voeux Road.

Look carefully up Pedder Street (the road that leads of to wards the top left) and you should be able to make out the Pedder Building. Look right and you can see the old General Post Office with its colonial facade. The GPO was knocked down and replaced by Worldwide House but strangely several of the old columns from the Post Office were preserved and hauled half way up Kwun Yam Shan (behind Kadoorie Farm) where they form part of some bizarre misplaced memorial - perhaps to remind everyone just how crap at preservation HK truly is.
