Je l'aimais - Daniel Auteuil (2009) - Peel Street, Midlevels

One of the more frequently occurring incidental locations in this film is the upper section of Peel Street where the Mid-levels escalator runs up over Mosque Junction. Several times the actors were filmed walking up and down the steps here. The impression seems to be that the steps are close to Mathilde's apartment, but we already know that place is miles away in North Point.

Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong - Jamie Chung (2015) - Peel Street, Central

After going up the escalator at Staunton Street, the couple suddenly appear on Peel Street. The top image shows the small shrine that Peel Street is known for - it also made a brief appearance in Invisible Waves. Also, there are still some common elements seen on the other images that were in place all the way back in 2009 when Push was filmed.

Strangers - John Simm (2018) - Peel Street, Central

In another one of those travelogue style establishing shots, we get a rather nice view down one of Hong Kong's many steep streets. This one is Peel Street. The large building in the background in The Centre.

Invisible Waves - Asano Tadanobu (2006) - Peel Street, Central

After Kyoji is told to take a vacation , he gets all he needs from a rather mysterious "monk" (played by the ever annoying Eric Tsang) who is the caretaker of the small shrine at the top of the steps where Peel Street meets Staunton Street.

China Rose - George C. Scott (1983) - Wellington Street, Central

After having their strange lunch with old triad boss guy, the couple head out onto the street - surprisingly there are no geographical shenanigans going on here and they correctly exit onto Wellington Street. Most of the shops and buildings seen on the right (north) side of the street have already been demolished and replaced. Some fairly recently. The white building in the far back ground is called the Mandarin Building. It's still there but now dwarfed by its close neighbours.

The stone steps seen on the left here are where Staveley Street cuts across Wellington Street.

The couple notice they are being followed and turn down peel Street. The building in the penultimate picture with the metal windows is the Tai Cheung Pawn Shop - it's still there and hasn't changed.

Push - Chris Evans (2009) - Peel Street, Central

We see Peel Street a couple of times during the film. The first time is at night when the surviving "sniffer", Agent Mack (played by The Strain's Corey Stoll), returns to his boss with the bad news that Kira has escaped. As the actors exit an alleyway you can see they emerge onto Peel Street (the yellow sign at the bottom was for the since closed Man Fa Hung Hotpot Restaurant).

The second trip to Peel Street is when Nick (Chris Evans) goes to the restaurant to confront the bad guys. The film makers want us to believe that the entrance to such a swish looking place is actually via an alleyway off Peel Street. I believe both scenes were actually filmed along the same stretch of Peel Street between Hollywood Road and Gage Street. Look closely and you'll see the same round lantern hanging in the shop front in both scenes.
