Lust, Caution - Tang Wei (2007) - Tin Hau Temple Road, Tai Hang

I have Hiram to thank for this following location (I would never have been able to locate it otherwise) from a comment he left on one of my posts last year. Yes, sometimes it really does take me that long to get around to doing stuff!

It's the dai pai dong scene and as you can read from Hiram's comment, the crew weren't really supposed to be there. The steps mentioned are still around and lead up to a road referred to as New Eastern Terrace, although Centamap still has an offshoot of Tin Hau Temple Road. In the upper picture you can see an old wall at the top of the steps at the back, but either it was fake or has since been replaced by a new development ("The Pavilia Hill"). I suspect the latter.

Chinese Box - Jeremy Irons (1997) - Pak Fuk Road, North Point

In the scene when Irons and his buddy ride the latter's bike up to the Peak, we catch a brief glance of what we are led to believe is the route up there but is in fact located quite a significant distance away on Braemar Hill in North Point.

The scene starts with a view over Bedford Gardens before panning right as the motorcycle passes by up to the junction with Tin Hau Temple Road.

The building at the end of the road in the lower picture is Ho King View and on the left is a partial view of Pacific Palisades.

The Private Eyes - Hui Bros (1976) - Tin Hau Temple Road, Hong Kong

Credit again to Arthur for locating this similar road scene, not too far away from the previous Braemar Hill Road locale seen in the last post. This time we move down the slope a bit to where Braemar Hill Road intersects with Tin Hau Temple Road.

In the screen caps above, the Porsche is turning right to continue along Tin Hau Temple Road. The road leading from the left is the bottom end of Braemar Hill Road. As mentioned by Arthur in his comment to me when he identified the location, the buildings on the opposite side of the road is still around. They are Ho King View and Tempo Court (from left to right), both built circa 1971 - just a few years before this film was made. Here's what the area looks like now. Thanks Arthur!
