Soldier, Soldier - Robson Green (1992) - Tsim Sha Tsui Harbourfront, Kowloon

In case anyone wondered what the TST harbourfront looked like before the Avenue of Stars came along and ruined it all, here is a quick glimpse. For your information it was just the same except with less tat and fewer people crouched on the floor.

Yep, there really wasn't much there back in the day, just a very plain promenade that let the view do all the talking. There used to be (perhaps still is -- it was still there about 4-5 years ago) a very small park / garden, either where there's a bridge connecting the Avenue of Stars to the InterContinental hotel, or perhaps where the promenade met the New World Centre.

At one side of the park was a great big (~four foot tall) hunk of granite, the top of which was carved to resemble a Tissot Rock Watch (http://www.watchtime.com/watches/images_db/big/s100_tissot-26.10rockw1985.jpg). The sculpture actually had a working clock movement inset in it. I wonder where that ended up, or how long it lasted?
