Blood, Sand and Gold - Aaron Costa Ganis (2017) - Nanking Street, Yau Ma Tei

To round of this film, there is a post-credits sequence when one of the characters if revealed to have survived the film's denouement. The sequence starts off with a blurry shot of Woosung Street as the character steps into frame and comes into focus. Squint a bit and you can just about make out the vague shape of a building in the background that stands on the NE corner of the junction of Woosung and Nanking Streets. Actually, we were at that junction just a few months ago with Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong.

The final shot of the film was taken along the aforementioned Nanking Street (turn right at the junction I just mentioned) and it's a view from just beyond the junction with Parkes Street looking back to the pedestrianised section of Nanking Street between Parkes and Woosung Streets.

The next shot we see is a panning shot from the Parkes Street intersection with Nanking Street in Yau Ma Tei. The shot is really just a tracking shot of the (fake) plane as it comes crashing its way through the streets.

Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong - Jamie Chung (2015) - Woosung Street, Yau Ma Tei

They decide to go and grab something to eat and Josh recommends a restaurant he likes. It turns out it is one of the spicy crab joints around the Temple Street night market. The one they go to though is actually on the next street over on Woosung Street at the junction with Nanking Street. The address is 103 Woosung Street.

Ein Sarg aus Hong Kong - Heinz Drache (1964) - Woosung Street, Kowloon

A big thanks to Arthur for getting this seemingly obscure street scene from Ein Sarg aus Hongkong. A bit of nifty searching by him has located an address thanks to matching up some of the shop signs that can be seen on the left hand side of the lower picture.

The white columns with red writing along the left side of the street tie up with a picture Arthur found at the following thread on the Uwants forum (it's a great resource for old Hong Kong pictures as long as you have a decent grasp of Chinese literacy (sadly, I don't).

So we now know that this particular stretch of road, where the (most likely) fictitious "Celestial Empire Hotel" is situated. This whole stretch - between Jordan Road and Nanking Street - has been redeveloped, however, the curved corner building in the mid distance is still around and it's on the corner on Nanking Street and now houses the Goodrich Hotel. It was built in 1964 so must have been brand new when this film was shot (probably why it looks so clean!).

Anyway, once again a massive thanks to Arthur for finding the proverbial needle in the haystack.

Roaring Fire - Hiroyuki Sanada (1982) - Shanghai Street, Jordan

Here is another one courtesy of the rather keen eye of Thomas Ngan who managed to identify a watch company shop sign on the screen capture leading to the identification of this street scene as a section of Shanghai Street in the Jordan Road area. So once again thanks to Thomas.

One of the things that really threw me off the scent is also the seemingly rather wide nature of the road here. The camera angle is obviously playing some tricks because this part of Shanghai Street is really no wider than any other part as you'll see in the Streetview capture below.

You can see the buildings are pretty much unchanged, but there is much less overhead signage (although I can one sign is still there in the distance) and of course there has been massive high-rise development at the far end. Look carefully and you can also see the black characters can still be discerned on the lower floor wall of the corner building (on the corner of Nanking Street).

I might have found something. There was another Watch company captured in the foreground called 廣濟表行. I googled it and found someone posted a photo of a Rolex with invoice in discuss.com.hk showing three addresses on the invoice. Two in Kowloon ...http://www.discuss.com.hk/viewthread.php?tid=14690593&page=3
Address one reads #126 Shanghai Street and address 2 reads #224-226 Tai Po Road. I remember there was a Kowloon Watch Co. Store around the location about 20 years ago. Might have to check other older photos of the area for clues.
