Anak - Vilma Santos (2000) - O'Brien Road, Wanchai

Watching the film, I thought this next shot was supposed to be the view from Josie's window in the apartment where she is employed, but perhaps it was just a transitional shot for the sequence where her employers callously cancel her holiday, take her passport and then lock her in their apartment while they go off on their own holiday.

Anyway, this image shows the view looking south along Thomson Road/O'Brien Road and so was most definitely captured from the walkway/footbridge above Wanchai MTR station. We've been in this area a couple of times in the last few months (Crossing Hennessy, Hafen der Düfte).

This lower image is from the opening sequence and shows a view along the footbridge but next to where it crosses Gloucester Road.

Hafen der Düfte - Veronica Ferres (2013) - Johnston Road, Wanchai

The next image shows us Johnston Road just as the camera is passing by Exit A3 of Wanchai MTR Station on the corner of O'Brien Road. I actually posted this area recently for Crossing Hennessy, although in that post we see the same area from an upper floor of a (right hand side of frame - now defunct) restaurant.

Crossing Hennessy - Jacky Cheung (2010) - Tung Hing Building, Johnston Road

When the two families meet up to try and fix up their respective charges, they do it over a dim sum meal. The restaurant was called "Tanyoto" and was located in the lower floors of the Tung Hing Building on the corner of Johnston Road and O'Brien Road. The place was actually a hotpot restaurant but also happened to sell dim sum. These days the space is now occupied by a JP Books bookstore.

When Loy looks out the window as Oi Lin is making work calls, she is standing on the corner of the road outside exit A3 of Wanchai MTR Station.

Three Businessmen - Miguel Sandoval (1998) - O'Brien Road Pedestrian Bridge, Wanchai

After disembarking the ferry, the next shot of the (currently two) businessmen appears to be the pedestrian walkway that connects Wanchai MTR station with Immigration Tower on the north side of Gloucester Road. The captures below show the pair walking south towards the MTR at, what appears to be, the section between Jaffe Road and Lockhart Road.

Shatter - Stuart Whitman (1974) - O'Brien Road, Wanchai

Another identification courtesy of Thomas. I think, in all honesty, I would never have found this one alone, the changes are just too great since the film was made. But anyway, thanks to Thomas and his rather vast local knowledge we now know that one of the opening scenes of Shatter - which is displayed in the title credits - is the corner of O'Brien Road and Lockhart Road in Wanchai.

As Thomas noted in his reasons for the ID, two of the buildings seen in the screen capture below are still around today.

As you can see by the Streetview below, the road now sits underneath the Wanchai walkway which joins Wanchai MTR station with Immigration Tower on (what was) the harbourfront. It's a familiar walk to anyone who has had to apply for a visa or permanent residency in HK (I myself had to do multiple trips courtesy of various visas for myself and children followed by our ROA applications).

Anyway, the buildings Thomas noted as still standing are the two on the left hand side of both pictures. They've changed a bit but you can still make out the same aspect and dimensions as they were back in 1974. The closer one is the Hong Kong Building and was built in 1966, the one next to it further away is Mercantile House built a year later.
