It's been filmed from several angles, but the most recognisable is the one below looking west back towards Nathan Road with the Club Tasogare sign hanging over the middle. The club has long gone (replaced by Delaney's sole remaining pub) but the general feel of the road persists.
Those of you with keen eyes may also spot the half-hidden Regency Hotel (demolished and replaced by iSquare) as well as the sign for the famous Red Lips bar that was hidden up the alleyway between buildings on the left hand side.

WhatwhatwhatWHAT? Delaney's Wan Chai closed down? *Googles, finds answer in the affirmative*
Man, that sucks. Visited both of the last two times I was in Hong Kong so I could watch the Formula One. Bought a rugby shirt last time I was there, as well, although it's just generically for Delaney's rather than the Wan Chai location specifically.
I seem to be starting a collection of shirts for closed Hong Kong pubs -- I also have a Kangaroo Pub shirt somewhere, from back when they were in between Ashley and Haiphong Rd. I think they were eventually resurrected as Kangaroo Downunder, bounced around a couple of locations on the island and ended up back in TST on Chatham Rd. South. I believe they're now long gone once more.
And coming back to the frame grab, I find something interesting. Of all the businesses in that den of girlie bars and iniquity, I find it interesting that the only one which has held on (at least, in the type of business -- the company itself could easily be different) is the moneychanger on the corner of Peking and Hankow Rd.
There's been a moneychanger there for as long as I can remember (20-25 years), and it looks like even longer, judging from this screenshot -- right back to 31 years ago if not longer!
Hi there,
The Delaney's has a branch at Cyber Port, also on Hong Kong Island.
Thanks & Best Regards,
T
Hi Thomas - is the other one on HK Island in Wanchai? If so, it closed a couple of months ago. However, thanks for the pointer about cyberport - the branch on Peking Road is the one I have been to most. Cheers, Phil
yes! the moneychanger is still there...and STILL gets irate when people use his shop to cut the corner :-)
Hi Phil,
Yes, that's the other one on the Island. The closure of their Wanchai Branch was in the news. Seemed Sino wasn't keen to extend the lease to them and opted for a bigger chain of sort. We'll see what the site would become soon enough.
Cyber port is not too convenient though. We have more choices of beer and ales these days as the competition of Craft Beer is starting to heat up. There are more bars/pubs offering good beers by the tap in many places now.
T
I think T might have been meaning that the Cyberport branch is on Hong Kong Island, rather than that there are multiple Hong Kong Island branches.
