The journalist follows Ko-ko to the old waterfront walkway that used to run along the water-side facade of the G.P.O building. In the first image you can see the former Blake Pier in the background and the covered restaurant at the end of the pier (seen in a couple of films over the years here and here).
I'm not sure when the walkway was taken down but I think it was around the same time the Star Ferry Pier building was demolished in 2006 (you can see the Star ferry in the background of the last image). Anyway, the space is now occupied by a paved area in front of the GPO.

Hi Phil,
The Blake Pier connected directly to the covered walkway that still exist, linking up Jardine House and the old Union House. I believe the Blake Pier was demolished way before the old Star Ferry Pier for the reclamaination in stages, for the new Piers.
1 IFC opened in 1998.

Hi Thomas, the stepped section seen in image 1 is no longer there - it was replaced by a new set of steps/escalator unit. The original walkway does form the connection between the new and old sections here, but the part of it seen in the lower two images was removed. Phil
Hi Phil,
Just checked HKMS 2.0. Blake Pier was still there in 1993, but five new piers was already in used in newly reclaimed land in 1997 while the old Star Farry Pier was still there.

Hi Phil,
One 1994 Aerial Photo of the area showed Blake Pier had already been demolished.
