Strangers - John Simm (2018) - Rua de S. Miguel, Macau

In the process of being taken for a ride (literally and figuratively) Jonah is driven along the rather picturesque Rua de S. Miguel. This view shows us the view looking back towards the intersection with Calcada da Igreja de São Lazaro. On the other side of the junction (where the green netting covers the building) the road becomes the Rua de Eduardo Marques and continues on up to the St Michael cemetery (the pastel green blur in the far distance is the church that sits in the middle of the burial grounds).

Vengeance - Johnny Hallyday (2009) - Calcada Da Igreja São Lazaro, Macau

Before the final shoot out, Ye identifies the gang boss in the square. Hallyday is waiting for her with her kids in a van supposedly parked just around the corner. In fact the van is parked along Calcada Da Igreja São Lazaro - a good 10/15 minute walk away. I guess this is the last Vengeance post until I can figure out some of he more difficult to identify places.

Game of Death - Bruce Lee (1978) - Rua de Sanches de Miranda, Macau

Another obscure Game of Death discovery to add to the list. It's a brief shot of the baddies car driving down a small road before turning right. It turns out the initial road seen in the first picture is called Calcada da Igreja de São Lazaro. If that name sounds familiar, well it should do because the part of the road is the upper section of a road I posted about all those years ago when first looking at this film.

The camera pans to the left and we are now looking up Rua de Sanches de Miranda.

If the camera had continued panning left then it would have seen this picture from the earlier pot I mentioned above. This tells me that the shot was probably taken at the same time because the camera position seems perfect.

Game of Death - Bruce Lee (1978) - Calcada Da Igreja São Lazaro, Macau

Here's another great 1978 shot from GoD. I can't remember the plot behind the scene but I think it was just a matter of someone was following someone else and you end up with this nice shot looking from the stairway at the north/west end of Calcada Da Igreja São Lazaro.

I don't have a personal picture from the same angle, but I do have a couple of the street taken further down. All I can say is, like other parts of older Macau (this one has houses on it that date back to the early part of the 19th Century), it is looking rather spick and spam thanks to a lick of new paint and some TLC.

Actually, look carefully at the screen grab and you should be able to discern the building above - centre screen - about half way down the road on the right hand side.
