The Lady Professional - Lily Ho Li-li (1971) - Kowloon Wharves

The contract to kill Shi is subcontracted out to the boss of the guy who is blackmailing Tian-li. They are based in a warehouse at some wharves somewhere. The establishing shot shows us the Kowloon Wharves but in the close ups of the warehouses/godowns, it looks like that was filmed elsewhere (possibly even Movietown). This image is a stitch from a panning shot of the area. This area is now all part of the Harbour City mall complex.

The Peking Medallion - Robert Stack (1967) - Kowloon Wharves, Tsim Sha Tsui

Stack's buddy, who saved him on his speedboat at the beginning of the film, is murdered for the medallion (which he has already given to Stack). The body is found down at the wharves in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Das Mädchen von Hongkong - Joachim Fuchsberger (1973) - Kowloon Wharf and Godowns, Tsim Sha Tsui

From one harbourfront location to another, this time across the harbour and over to Kowloon side and the cargo processing area that was around before the Gateway and Harbour Centre were built. 

The waterside road that the cops are walking along has since been turned in to Gateway Boulevard. Most of the scenes filmed around here don't show the various water side buildings, but we've seen them on the blog previously (such as here and here).

Jason King (TV Series) - Peter Wyngarde (1972) - Hong Kong & Kowloon Wharf and Godown Company, Tsim Sha Tsui

We last visited the godowns in TST whilst looking at Shirley's World a few weeks ago. Here it is in Jason King in what I assume is stock footage.Stock footage or not, it's nice to remember that what is now prime waterfront commercial space had a more humble past life.

Shirley's World (TV Series) - Shirley MacLaine (1972) - Hong Kong & Kowloon Wharf and Godown Company, Tsim Sha Tsui

We just saw it in the last post because Shirley's destination is the Wharf and Godown offices that used to line the waterfront in Tsim Sha Tsui. So far the place has popped up once before when we looked at Golden Needles a few years back. The rather nicely designed main building use to stand pretty much where Harbour City stands today.

Look carefully at the bottom picture and you can see where Ocean Terminal (in the background) is relative to the old building. You can still access this area along Gateway Boulevard, but of course these days the buildings are all part of the aforementioned Harbour City development and Ocean Terminal has also had the car park spiral exit/entry ramp built on the side.

Golden Needles - Joe Don Baker (1974) - Kowloon Wharf & Godown, Tsim Sha Tsui

To give a bit of a break to the I Spy locations, which seem to have been taking up the majority of my time over the past few months, here is a shot from another film directed by Enter the Dragon-helmer, Robert Clouse. It's called Golden Needles and stars Joe Don Baker as well as Burgess Meredith and was made in 1974. Probably not coincidentally, Jim Kelly was also in this one however all of his scenes look to have been filmed back in California and not HK. Anyway, in no particular order here is a great view of what the area around Harbour City used to look like.

The large empty space in the top photo is where the Ocean Centre currently sits and this is testified by the fact that if you look at the far right in that top picture, you can see some older buildings that line Canton Road. The smaller building to the left is #14 - 16 Canton Road and can still be found - although it was quite new when this film was made because it was only built in 1971.

Suffice to say everything else in these photos has gone. Replaced, by and large, by the Harbour City mall and office complex. The only buildings that were around along this strip that can still be found would be Star House and the Hongkong Hotel - however, they are both out of shot here.
