Bullet for Hire - Simon Yam (1991) - Lan Kwai Fong, Central

The assassins' favourite sauna is a frequent location in this movie. I'm not so sure of its location at the moment, but in one of the scenes they drive their car down Lan Kwai Fong on the way (no, I don't think it was there). The signboard for Post 97, a popular bar, can be seen on the left. The wall at the back on D'Aguilar Street was later partially demolished to make way for LKF Tower.

Later in the film there is a brief glimpse of the frontage of "Scotties", another famous Lan Kwai Fong bar that operated in the 1980s and 90s (see bottom image). I believe it closed in 1993, so a couple of years after this film was released.

Awarapan - Emraan Hashmi (2007) - Lan Kwai Fong, Central

Malik's neglected son, Ronnie (Salil Acharya), catches up with Shivam at Lan Kwai Fong and the two get into a bit of a tussle. This was filmed in Lan Kwai Fong with the former, familiar sign for the 1997 bar above their heads. This place eventually closed in 2016. I never went there (not much of a LKF kind of person) but according to Openrice, it was on the ground floor of the Cosmos Building at 9-11 Lan Kwai Fong.

Royal Warriors - Michelle Yeoh (1986) - California, Lan Kwai Fong

Another of the signature venues that defined Lan Kwai Fong area in the 80s was "California". I believe it was Allan Zeman's main venture and the one that gave him the foothold there to transform the area into HK's premiere nightlife district. Sadly, the bar, and the California Tower it was based in, were demolished circa 2010. Before the bar was made famous by Chungking Express, it was featured in this film as the place where everybody gets shot to pieces by the bad guy. You may recall that the Jazz Club, located in the neighbouring California Entertainment Building, was also victim of the redevelopment here (both buildings were demolished and replaced by a single larger one called 'New California Tower").

The scene starts with Michelle and Michael arriving by car at the top of Lan Kwai Fong before turning the corner and getting out in front of California Tower.

Legacy of Rage - Brandon Lee (1986) - Lan Kwai Fong, Central

Lan Kwai Fong is where the old man catches up to May and tries to convince her to go away with him. The scene starts on D'Aguilar Street (top image) but then moves to Lan Kwai Fong as he jumps out of his car to stop her, only to have Michael muscle in and whisk her away.

The Killer - Chow Yun Fat (1989) - Lan Kwai Fong, Central

As Jennie (Sally Yip) makes her way home from the club, she can be seen walking up Lan Kwai Fong. Genre fans may recall that City on Fire used a similar shot, taken in almost the same place, a few years prior. The wall at the back is on D'Aguilar Street but was demolished quite sometime ago.LKF Tower currently sits there.

City on Fire - Chow Yun Fat (1987) - Lan Kwai Fong, Central

After being finally arrested and taken back to the Police Station for a beating, Ko Chow is then released to cintinue his mission infiltrating the heist gang. He is dropped off on a very rainy Lan Kwai Fong which back then still had cobbles. He hobbles down the street and turns into #13. The building is still around but it looks as though the scenes set in the backyard were at a different location.
