East Kowloon Polyclinic, Diamond Hill - Now and Then

Welcome to the New Year 2026 and before I get onto the next film I thought it might be a good idea to chuck out a few random posts that have been neglected up until now.

I paid a visit to the old Golden Harvest Studios site a few weeks back (as part of one of my
Bruce Lee Self-guided walks) and there is a pathway that leads around the back of the old studio site (now a residential development) and then down onto Ping Ting Road. It wasn't a planned trip but while I was there I took some impromptu shots to try and match some screencaps from Just Heroes. This is the East Kowloon Polyclinic.

Just Heroes - David Chiang (1989) - Ping Ting Road, Diamond Hill

Jacky (Stephen Chow) is convinced that Sou (Danny Lee) was responsiblefor the hit on their boss and decides to take revenge by attacking Sou's pregnant wife, Annie (Tien Niu). This takes place outside the East Kowloon Polyclinic on Ping Ting Road. We were in the same location a couple of years ago for Police Story 2 that was shot around the same time.

After also kidnapping Ka Kui, the bombers make another extortion demand, this time from a payphone on Ping Ting Road - it's actually just a stone's throw from the old Golden Harvest studio complex, in fact just the next road down the hill.

In the top image, the East Kowloon Psychiatric Centre can be seen in the background right of the frame. This is still around. In the second image, the twin blocks of what was once the Hong Kong School for the Deaf can be seen on the other side of Hammer Hill Road. This is no longer there and has been replaced by Chun Tok School.
