The Angel Strikes Again - Lily Ho (1968) - Route TWISK

Agent 009 and Deng Lei plan to trap the gang leader by creating a road diversion. They observe from the memorial pavilion on Route TWISK (still there) as the car approaches from the direction of Tai Kiu Tsuen. You may recall this is the same location we saw at the end of Inter-Pol (second image down in that link).

Deng Lei then runs off to set his trap. This sequence actually utilises several separate locations as you will see in the next posts.

Inter-Pol - Tang Ching (1967) - Route Twisk

In this final post for this film, we can see that some of the aerial footage of the escaping truck was shot above Route Twisk. The images below show the bends in the road next to the Hong Kong Gun Club (whose terraced berms can be seen on the left hand side in the bottom image) and a small squatter settlement called Tai Kiu Tsuen.

Just a bit later we see the truck crossing a wooden railed bridge that was located just a little bit down from Tai Kiu Tsuen. This section of road has actually been straightened a bit and this bend is not quite as sheer as it used to be.

Later in the chase we see another section of the road where it intersects with Tai Mo Shan Road. This is exactly the same place where Operation Lipstick shot some scenes the same year. Here's the reminder.

In case you weren't convinced that the previous location was Route Twisk, the next shot of the kidnap truck shows it turning off Route Twisk and up Tai Mo Shan Road. You can barely make out the words of the road sign but this junction looks quite similar even today despite all the extra tree and vegetation growth covering the hillside. Operation Lipstick - Cheng Pei-pei (1967) - Route Twisk, Tsuen Wan

The next movie comes courtesy of Celestial's Youtube channel (@ShawBrosCinema) which has put up several videos of their remastered Shaw Bros collection that I assume have not yet been picked up  by anyone for license/release. A big shout out to Will Kouf of SilverEmulsion.com who made me aware of the channel via his Bluesky account.

The film is a comedy starring Cheng Pei-pei (RIP) as a night club singer who is embroiled into James Bond type intrigue as a gang kidnaps a a scientist in an attempt to get hold of the plans of his ground breaking science invention.

The opening exterior shots of this movie involve the doctor's car being hijacked despite its police outrider escort. These scenes were all shot along Route Twisk - the former military road that snakes across the west and north slopes of Tai Mo Shan, Hong Kong's highest mountain. The modern views of these sections of the road are so covered in trees that it was quite hard to find the exact locations, so you'll just have to take my word for it.

Irreversi - Mei Melançon (2010) - The Cairnhill, Tsuen Wan

It's getting increasingly difficult to get hold of copies of some films but thankfully I have managed to procure a copy of Irreversi. Apparently shot in 2006 (but released in 2010) it was made back-to-back with a Chinese version (called Hui Lu) that is the same story reshot with a full Chinese cast. The story revolves around a woman (Mei Melançon) whose brother has recently been killed in a parachuting 'accident' and is swept off her feet by her brother's business partner (Ian Bohen) who has just sold their company and made a fortune. However, things don't quite appear to be as they seem. I haven't seen the Chinese version but am assuming it uses the same locations as this English one? If you know any different then feel free to let me know.

One of the first proper locations to appear in the film is the couple's pre-wealth condominium apartment which was filmed at a development called "The Cairnhill". It's located at the southern end of Route Twisk and is separated into two main sections. You can see the link road between the two in the lower screencap.
