Yellowthread Street (TV Series) - Bruce Payne (1990) - Kennedy Road, Hong Kong

Another reused spot for this series, this time we see it from the other direction though as a car is followed around.

This above section is just next to 42 Kennedy Road (see the link I put in at the top), and other than a bit of extra tree growth really hasn't changed that much since.

A short hop later and we are next to the Kennedy Apartments at 36B. Again, not much has changed around here, thankfully, as you can see courtesy opf Streetview.

Yellowthread Street (TV Series) - Bruce Payne (1990) - Queensway, Central

A quick one as we follow an unmarked cop car past the Lippo Centre et al.

Speaking of the Lippo Centre, we also get a nice fly-by view of the harbour side of the same area showing the gold Far East Financial Centre, the (now) Chinese PLA HK Building (formerly part of HMS Tamar), followed by the Lippo again and ending with a partial view of Bank of America tower.

Yellowthread Street (TV Series) - Bruce Payne (1990) - Nathan Road, Kowloon

This is a night scene which would normally prove a bit difficult for identification purposes but for the existence of a sign to one of Tsim Sha Tsui's long-established eateries: the Very Good Sea Food Restaurant or the Ting Ho (頂好海鮮酒家 ) as its name is usually romanised.

It's located at 90-94 Nathan Road and the screen caps above show us looking south from the junction with Granville Road. Although I've never been there to eat, it's supposedly quite good (I guess the fact it has been around so long is testament to that), and was the subject of an old Bruce Lee related story that ended up proving to be bogus (someone had said the Unicorn Fist promo lunch was held there, but actually this took place at the old Miramar). Anyway, here is the same view today thanks to Streetview. The current wavy blue resto sign can be seen directly underneath/behind the one for The Body Shop.

Yellowthread Street (TV Series) - Bruce Payne (1990) - Lin Fa Kung, Tai Hang

A brief and rather narrow view of this famous temple Lin Fa Kung (蓮花宮)in the Tai Hang area just north of Victoria Park on Hong Kong Island. It's a shame we see only the window because this place is one of Hong Kong's more unique temples with its octagonal shape at the front.

Here is a wider angle courtesy of Streetview.

Yellowthread Street (TV Series) - Bruce Payne (1990) - Sandy Bay, Pok Fu Lam

Sandy Bay is the location where Doreen Chan goes to visit HK movie-stalwart, Dennis Chan, to console him about his daughter. I'm not sure if this temple area is still around because the whole place has been redeveloped extensively and turned into the Stanley Ho Sports Centre amongst other things. It looks as though the film crew were on the beach though - and looking at the aerial view on GoogleEarth, there still seems to be remnants of a jetty that appears in another picture below.

The circular tower in the background of the first picture, as well as the smaller buildings at its base are part of Pine Court and Pine Grove, respectively, with the white Tam Towers next to them. The darker coloured buildings closer to the camera are Scenic Villas.

The next few pictures how what looks like a makeshift temple at the waterfront. Does anyone know if these stone lions are still around? I don't think they are something that could be easily moved. Anyway, the bottom picture shows good old Dennis looking out across the jetty to the open sea.

Finally, we get a quick glimpse up the beach towards the north. Looking at various Panoramio shots of that area, I don't think it has changed at all.

Yellowthread Street (TV Series) - Bruce Payne (1990) - Cheung Hang Estate, Tsing Yi

Moving on to Episode 11: Slicing the Dragon and we start off with some aerial night views of the under-construction Cheung hang Estate on Tsing Yi Island. The timing of the show was perhaps nearer to 1989 (I mean in terms of filming) because the estate was already completed and taking in tenants by 1990. Anyway, the story revolves around some Fung Shui skulduggery - something that seems to never go away in Hong Kong.

These two buildings above are Hang Yip and Hang Chi House, looking as though they are just being freed of their bamboo scaffolding. There are two rectangular sections of ground, one larger and one smaller that are in fact covered reservoirs - a common occurrence in Hong Kong - and the building site beyond it is the future location of the neighbouring Cheung Wang Estate.

As the camera moves to the south you can also see Hang Lai House centre picture and the corner of Hang Chui House to its left.
