Royal Warriors - Michelle Yeoh (1986) - Stanley Village Road, Stanley

In case the geographical leap from Clearwater Bay to Kowloon Tsai to Shatin to Fo Tan wasn't enough, the next section of the car chase takes us all the way over to Stanley on Hong Kong Island. In the top images, Raging Bull's truck is driving along Tung Tau Wan Road  and takes the sharp corner into Wong Ma Kok Road. Yamamoto's BMW comes from the other direction (Stanley Village Road) but makes the same turn on to Wong Ma Kok Road. The building in the background is St Anne's Church and on the opposite corner is the former grand gateway onto what was once a large property called Banoo Villa (since demolished and turned into low-rise apartments with the same name).

The lower images show the view in the opposite direction along Stanley Village Road. The building with the large apertures at ground level (to the left of the crowd) is the former Colonial-era Police Station. Coincidentally, I was in Stanley the other day and decided to try and recreate the angles (from memory, though not too bad a job). Once again the Google marker is refusing to stay where I'vepinned it and is jumping to the nearby post office rather than remaining at the junction of the 3 roads.

Strangers - John Simm (2018) - Stanley Sewage Treatment Works, Stanley

David and Jonah head to the refuse depot from where the truck that killed their wife originated. In the show it quite obviously says "Shatin Refuse Depot" on the various images they are examining but in reality the place they visit (replete with "Shatin Refuse Depot" signs) is in fact the subterranean Stanley Sewage Treatment Works. It appears to have been quite a ground breaking bit of engineering (when HK was capable of doing that stuff) to move the treatment pools and associated heavy plant to this cavern system with an aim to creating a nicer environment for Stanley village dwellers.

The green board/display thing on the left in that last photo helped me find this place because I could just make out the "Drainage Services Dept" emblem at the top left of it. The actual entrance to this place is on Wong Ma Kok Road near to the prison.

Love is a Many-Splendored Thing - William Holden (1955) - Wong Ma Kok Road, Stanley

There is a famous beach scene in this film that I will get to next, but before I do here is the sequence just prior to it as the couple drive along Wong Ma Kok Road in Stanley and park the car. Stanley Bay and the Mary Knoll building on the hill are noticeable as well as the small row of houses along the beachfront (bottom left of top screen grab) which are still around and probably known to anyone who has strayed far enough away from Stanley Market.

Notice the small single-storey structure (with red doors) seen in the first and second screen grabs? In case it's a bit difficult to see I've highlight it below. This is still around and is currently marked on maps as Block 6-7 of College House at nearby St Stephen's College (a very famous local school). I have no idea what it is used for now - perhaps storage - but the old chimney is still visible. Below is a recent Streetview of the same building.
