Cleopatra Jones and the Casino of Gold - Tamara Dobson (1975) - Carpenter Road, Kowloon City

I was confused about this one at first and thought it may have been Temple Street in Yaumatei before realising thta the structure in the backgrpund, behind the taxi, is the Lee Kee Memorial Dispensary facing Carpenter Road.

Ah, good old Mido. A lovely reminder of days gone by, and great food as well. (Really friendly waiter last time I was there too, chatted to him for quite a while.)

Another film in which Mido and Temple Street appear is Powaqqatsi, the second film in Godfrey Reggio's spectacular (and yet dialogue-free) Qatsi trilogy.

Those three are among my very favorite films, not only for the awesome visuals and excellent music by Philip Glass, but also for the fact that they manage to communicate a clear message without a single word. But I have a special love for Powaqqatsi because it's also packed with shots of Hong Kong. :-)

They used to have a bunch of film shots from Suzie Wong running up the stairs but had got rid of them the last time I was there (around March).

I've not heard of that film, it sounds like I need to add it to my ever-growing to-do list. Cheers.

Let me know if you'd like a hand with screenshots. I have the Criterion Collection Blu-Ray set of the trilogy, which has much better image quality than any other version I've seen. :-)

...and I've got a Blu-Ray drive in my laptop, so should be fairly simple to grab some screenshots.
